Most people with a gluten sensitivity or Celiac Disease know when they’ve been glutened. Gastrointestinal symptoms come raging back, brain fog, skin issues, joint pain, headaches, etc. you just know it.

Gluten typically takes 3 to 6 months to leave your body but to help you manage the symptoms here are a few things you can do if you’ve been glutened:

1. Drink lots of quality water to help flush out the toxins from the system.

2. Take digestive enzymes: they help speed up the breakdown and absorption of macro nutrients by your intestine.

3. You can take activated charcoal to help bind toxins and help reduce gas and bloating. Activated charcoal can make you constipated so to avoid constipation, make sure to drink plenty of water, which goes back to tip #1, drink that clean filtered water. I aim for half my body weight in ounces per day without taking activated charcoal so make sure you’re water intake is more than what is normally recommended when taking ac.

Because you’ve been glutened, there will be an inflammatory response and your gut will be affected, meaning leaky gut, also known as intestinal permeability. So you’ll want to include things like turmeric and ginger for inflammation and work on healing your gut. Drinking meat stock daily and having herbal teas like slippery elm are very helpful for the gut.
